The 2018 Parade of Homes
by Reehl Custom Homes

Reehlco Custom Homes is excited to present the 2018 Showcase House for the Baldwin County Home Builder Association’s Parade of Homes.  Reehlco Custom Homes’ founder, Cameron Reehl, is honored to be this year’s Showcase Builder.  The Showcase Home is located at 495 Boulder Creek Avenue in beautiful Fairhope, Alabama.  Boulder Creek Avenue runs through the last phase of the Stone Creek development off of Highway 181 on the South side of Fairhope.  One of the things that make this especially significant for Cameron is that his father, Rance Reehl, is the Developer for this neighborhood.

The 2018 Showcase House is a collaboration between Cameron and many wonderful, local partners.  The process of building this home started with Cameron utilizing his last remaining lot in the neighborhood.  It sits next to several of Cameron’s recent builds and is surrounded by other great custom homes.  Stone Creek offers three fully-stocked lakes, an infinity-edge, resort-style swimming pool that seems to disappear into the lake, sidewalks throughout, tennis courts and a Clubhouse that feels more like a high-end Ski Lodge.

Once the perfect lot was selected, Cameron worked with Bob Chatham, Custom Home Designer, on designing the perfect elevation and floor plan.  Immediately upon driving up to the home, it’s evident that Cameron wanted it to have a different feel.  Cameron loves incorporating different materials for the home’s elevation, especially natural materials.  The home’s stunning elevation comes from a mix of reclaimed-looking brick, Artisan siding, and woodwork.  One of Cameron’s signature elements is generously proportioned, rough-sewn Cypress columns and beams.  Walking up to the front porch, you notice this rustic element along with exposed rafter tails with a custom detail, double 8’ tall mahogany doors, and tall, Southern-style casement windows.

As you enter the home, you immediately notice the comfortable feel that Cameron wanted to create for the homeowner.  Cameron hired Autumn Gann, Realtor at Coldwell Banker Reehl Properties and Accredited Staging Professional, as a consultant for the build.  He knew that he wanted to incorporate certain materials like reclaimed heart pine floors, and wood walls in the entertaining areas, but he also wanted to ensure that he was meeting the ‘wish-list’ of today’s luxury buyer.  With Autumn’s help, he was able to do this and maintain his usual ‘classic, yet rustic’ look.  The floors are made from salvaged 2’x8’ roof deck boards from a button factory that have been milled and sanded to show the tight grain of the old-growth lumber.  The walls in the Foyer, Family Room, Kitchen, and open Stairwell all feature 8” v-groove wood for a timeless look.

The Kitchen is every homeowner’s dream: Calacatta Caesarstone countertops, an oversized island with a ‘pop-up’ electrical outlet, Thermador Stainless Steel appliances, a large double casement window over the farmhouse sink, custom fabricated steel hood, walk-in pantry, wet bar with hammered copper sink and more.  The open floor plan is thoughtfully designed to offer several ‘nooks’ for comfortable living.  The Dining Area has a bump out with large windows to create a cozy spot to enjoy a cup of coffee and read the morning paper.  The adjacent Living Room features a custom steel fireplace surround that thoughtfully ties into the Kitchen’s range hood and the Back Porch’s additional cooking porch.  Cameron really wanted the back porch to feel like another room on the home.  He envisioned the homeowner watching football on the covered back porch, enjoying the outdoor fireplace and having room for family and friends.  He incorporated rough-sewn Cypress columns again with a v-groove ceiling and a hand-hewn reclaimed mantle.

If you can pry yourself away from this fabulous outdoor space, you make your way back inside to see the long hallway with built-in reclaimed Hickory shelving, a Laundry Room with a utility sink and a laundry chute from the Master Closet, a Mud Bench and the entrance to the Master Bedroom.  The Master Bathroom features a cast-iron soaking tub and a walk-in Shower with body jets, a Rain head, a handheld, and a floating Caesarstone bench.   The Master Closet offers an island and plenty of built-in shelving.

Downstairs there’s also a Powder Room and a Guest Bedroom with an in-suite bathroom with Carrera marble floors and shower walls- not a detail was missed on this home!  Going upstairs, you’ll notice the custom-designed steel handrail leading you up to two additional bedrooms, two more bathrooms, and a bonus space.  The Showcase House is exquisitely furnished by Duh for Garden & Home, a destination Interior Design and furnishings retailer located at 501 N. 9th Avenue in Pensacola, Florida.  The best way to appreciate the expansiveness of the space and the quality of the finishes is to come see it in person.

About Reehl Custom Homes

Reehlco Custom Homes was established in Fairhope, Alabama, in 2015.  Cameron grew up in the real estate and home building industries and developed a strong passion for both at an early age.   After graduating from the University of Alabama, he began his career working under other custom homebuilders and soaking up all the knowledge he could.  During this time, he keyed in on the tireless dedication it takes to bring a truly Custom Home to fruition, as well as the importance of a strong, transparent relationship between the client and the contractor.  Those lessons learned are the foundation that Reehlco is built on.

Reehlco Custom Homes specializes in building the next generation of Gold Fortified Homes in Baldwin County.  Cameron and his team take pride in having a hands-on approach throughout the entire process and making sure that their fingerprints are on the finer details that give each home its identity.  Cameron has put a strong emphasis on surrounding himself with the best partners to provide the top resources, finishes, and experience for his clients.
